The Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile welcomed a group of 11th and 12th grade students from The Angel\u2019s School, in an activity organized jointly with the AMXSA Millennium Nucleus,<\/strong> by the professor from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Materials (DIQBM)<\/strong> e investigadora principal del n\u00facleo, M\u00f3nica Soler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day began with a guided tour of the Faculty\u2019s facilities, coordinated by the FCFM Schools Outreach Team. Afterwards, the students participated in a nanotechnology workshop<\/strong> led by Professor Andreas Rosenkranz, faculty member of the DIQBM and director of the AMXSA Millennium Nucleus. The program also included visits to DIQBM and Nucleus laboratories, Molecular Materials Laboratory<\/strong>, and Tribology and 2D Nanomaterials Laboratory<\/strong>, guided by Javier Marqu\u00e9s Henr\u00edquez, Roc\u00edo Marcoleta, Manuel Reyes, and Nayra Zelada. Finally, the experience concluded in the Chemistry Teaching Laboratory<\/strong>, where Professor M\u00f3nica Soler<\/strong> conducted a hands-on workshop in which students carried out experiments such as different redox reactions, a galvanic cell, and observed how water electrolysis works, <\/strong>producing hydrogen and oxygen gases and understanding its relation to green hydrogen<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this initiative, the FCFM, the DIQBM, and the AMXSA Millennium Nucleus reinforce their commitment to scientific outreach and engagement with the school community<\/strong>, bringing university research closer to young students who could become the next generation of scientists in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
